In this episode of our Unbossers Podcast, we are blessed to talk with NK Chaudhary. Learn how he grew a business with two looms and nine artisans in 1978 to a global social enterprise exporting to over 60 countries while providing sustainable livelihood to 40,000 artisans in 600 remote villages across five states in India, out of which 80% of them are women.

Introducing NK Chaudhary and Jaipur Rugs

NK Chaudhary (NKC) started Jaipur Rugs almost 40 years ago with 9 weavers working on two looms from his home. Today, it is an international company working with 40,000 artisans across 700 villages in India.

In 2020 they won the Zero Distance award by the Business Ecosystem Alliance (BEA). The award aims at promoting the idea of ‘zero distance to customers’ into the minds of entrepreneurs and continuously creating a better experience for customers through innovative and customized solutions.

Jaipur Rugs now includes Jaipur Living and the Jaipur Rugs Foundation. The Foundation constantly cares for the wellbeing of the weavers and their families. Recently an entrepreneurship development program was added for weavers to become managers in the company.
